Just finished a gig somewhere in the Wester part of Denmark, in a small town I’ve never been to before. It’s amazing being on tour in your own home country, and to experience new parts of it, with its many different types of people. Varde Owen Luft Festival was a big contrast to last night’s totally over the top amazing show at the famous Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. Last time I performed on the stage, which probably is equivalent to doing Central Park in NYC (just a few times smaller in size!) was almost ten years ago during the release of my own debut album DISH, and in the interim major International names have graced the stage. Last night was a special night in that, this show was in my home turf, which I knew would draw most of my friends and family to it. Already a few hours prior to show time, the masses had gathered dense in excitement for what was to become a true party for the people! We, the band did had our ritualist shot of Havana Rum back stage while wishing each other a great show, before facing a crowd of almost thirty thousand people! The sound and set was tight, our attitude and focus was in check, costumes more fly than ever, and more importantly we performed with ease, grace and such love that it transcended the crowd which seemed to extend for miles! I was in heaven! Even in my stillness, and pauses of not singing, I noticed the love that poured out of Thomas’ mouth, and how we were ONE with the audience, who in return showered us with their love and support. I felt so proud of this man, who has accomplished so much. I knew that somewhere back in time he, like I, must’ve thought this into reality. A true indication of the power of thought and the importance of why you should keep dreaming big! It truly is fascinating watching thousands of people sing every word of nearly every song we performed, that the experience humbles me and makes me love music even more. One quote from Thomas which stuck with me after one of our first shows was “It’s amazing what music can do!”. I too know this for a fact and I’m so appreciative for the adventures every note and lyric has taken me, even if this time, on this tour they’re not my own. Truly, as I witnessed last night, a song belongs not to the writer solely, but to EVERYONE who listens and allows the music move through you…
